FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does insurance pay for what you do?

We accept most major health insurance providers (except for Humana and Medicaid). We will verify your insurance at your new patient examination. Insurance policies and deductibles vary widely from policy to policy.

Do I need a referral from my primary care physician?

Currently, the only cases that require a referral are patients with Tricare Prime or Tricare for life. We can request the referral for you, which generally takes around 1 month, or you can contact your provider directly and have them send a referral by fax (843-486-0989).

Do you provide physical therapy?

No – We use what is called functional physio-rehab. This approach takes a much more holistic (whole body) approach, and was specifically developed to deal with the special needs of someone with chronic pain issues.

How long/often will I need to see you?

This depends mainly on your condition. Many of our patients need to see us 2-3 times per week for 1-2 months. Much of our treatment is aimed at retraining your body with new habits to replace the bad, and that takes time. Consistency is the key element for success. Our patients that stick to a consistent schedule during treatment see far better results.

How do I make an appointment?

You can get in touch by phone 843-486-0999 or use the form under the contact page.

What if I don’t have health insurance?

We have self-pay options available. After completing your new patient examination, your case manager will review the options available.

What exactly is going to happen during my first visit?

Your first appointment with us will be a free consultation with your case manager. We’ll be listening very carefully to everything you tell us – sometimes the smallest details are the most important. We will also be reviewing the health history paperwork you have filled out. If it appears that your condition is something that we can treat, then you will have the option to have a new patient exam. In most cases, the cost of this exam will be your usual copay for a primary care visit. In the exam, you will receive a mild physical (no blood work), an orthopedic and neurological evaluation. At the provider’s discretion, we may also take x-rays (done on site). This is all covered under the office visit fee previously mentioned. After your examination, we’ll want to see you back (usually within 1-2 days) to review the findings of your exam and to outline what our team has determined to be the best course of treatment for you. Finances will be discussed at this time (what insurance covers), so there will never be any “surprise” bills that appear.

Are you a chiropractor?

No – we are an integrated medical clinic. Chiropractic is one of the tools in our toolbox, and we’ve found it compliments our medical services extremely well.

How long will it take until I stop hurting?

In general, our patients resolve most of their pain within 6 weeks. How fast/gradually this happens depends on the condition and the individual.

I need a refill for my prescription pain medication. Can you help?

We do not prescribe any narcotic or opiate pain medication. Please contact your primary care physician.

I’ve had surgery in the past. Can you still help me?

Absolutely! We have many years of experience working with area surgeons and physicians. Our treatments are safe, and will not interfere with prior surgeries.

How do I cancel or reschedule my appointment(s)?

Call the facility in which you go to for all your regular appointments. You may also call our administration office at 843-486-0999.

My condition was caused by an accident that was someone else’s fault - what should I do?

If you plan on pursuing litigation for a personal injury, we will need a letter of protection (LOP) mailed or faxed from your lawyer. If you’re unsure of how to do this, come see us for a free consultation, and we can explain in detail.

I think I’d like to come in for a consultation. How much is this going to cost?

Our consultations are free of charge. The purpose of the consultation is to see if we’re a good fit for you, and vice versa.
